Just Friends

So I was at   a surprise party the other day and someone was like “ is it possible for a man and woman to   be friends without something going on ? ”. Basically, you know when people already have a conclusion and just want to get others to support their idea. Most of the people in the room were like, no how can that happen . Then a guy said , if I go to the cinema repeatedly   with a female,then there must be something . I walked away from that party a bit sad that a lot of people   miss the beauty of genuine friendship   with members   of   the opposite sex under the erroneous presumption that strings must always be attached   . To Woo, To Flirt, To Romance

Erm… where do I start? In preparing to write this article, I’ve had to do some reflecting and deep thinking. Make Love.  The phrase alone gives the impression that love can be made.  Since this is an English phrase, I googled a bit and realised that ‘Making love’ has only recently come to mean ‘having sex’.  Originally it meant to woo, or flirt or romance.  The term originates from the French phrase ‘ faire l'amour’ , which means paying attention to someone romantically .  From a female point of view, this makes complete sense! The things I never told my Mother

Growing up for me was blissful. I had a father who would listen,  empower  and reinforce to me the fact that God fearfully and wonderfully created me. Daddy told me daily how I could be anything I wanted to be. You see, my daddy was 30 years older than my mother. He was better educated in “terms of certificates” than her and he was a greatly travelled gentleman. My mother on the flip side, was only a standard six certificate  holder, from  a more humble background but “a very intelligent woman” without the glory of “many paper certificates”.   By virtue of the gap in their background, my mother’s mantra was to beat the discipline physically, by “fire by force” into one’s body. My father would discuss with you and explain very calmly, ensuring that you understood what and why you need to make recommended changes.
